Corn grain is an important ruminant energy source due its high starch levels. It is expected that whole corn can alter the amount of starch reaching the small intestine and, thus, positively influence the litter size (LS) via hormonal stimulation, compared with steam-flaked corn. Nutritional supplementation with whole corn and steam-flaked corn enhanced the lambing rate, live weight, and body condition scores but did not change the LS.

A total of 400 day-old quails were assigned to four treatments: control, 0 %, 0 .01 %, and 0.02 % ginger phyto-protease. Over 42 d, significant improvements in feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, dressing percentage, villus height and width, and nutrient digestibility were observed, especially at 0.02 % enzyme inclusion. This suggests that 0.02 % ginger phyto-protease optimizes quail performance. 

This study examined genetic changes in body measurements at birth in Turkish Arabian foals born between 1987 and 2007. Significant factors influencing body size traits were identified. Additive genetic and maternal heritabilities varied, highlighting their impacts on foal traits. Results suggest the potential for selective breeding to enhance these traits over time, aiding future breeding strategies in Turkish Arabian horses.

Our study aimed to evaluate the effects of group size and the laying month on egg quality and the impact of group size on corticosterone and IgG levels in goose eggs in Hungary. From January to February, we demonstrated a decrease in egg width, shell thickness, shell weight, yolk weight, yolk ratio, yolk diameter, yolk colour with fan, and b* and an increase in albumen ratio and yolk pH. Regarding group size, the albumen pH, IgG, and corticosterone levels were higher in the small groups.

Our study sought to investigate the impact of incorporating guava agroindustrial waste (GAW) at varying concentrations on nutrient utilization, lamb performance and economic viability. These lambs were subjected to diets containing increasing levels of GAW (0, 7.5, 15, 22.5 and 30 % based on dry matter). Our findings suggest that GAW can be effectively integrated into sheep diets at levels of up to 30 % without compromising lamb performance. 

Cattle are monovular and naturally single-birth animals, producing only one calf per year. In this work, we evaluated the effect of inducing twin calves in beef heifers using different hormone treatment regimes. Animals were randomly selected for the procedure that induced double/triple ovulation via hormone treatment. This method may serve to promote twin production in beef cattle.

The LEP gene has been extensively studied in cattle, but research on goats is limited, often overlooking vital parameters like reproduction and growth. We investigate the relationship between LEP gene polymorphisms and growth or reproductive traits in Saanen goats. Notably, the LEP-Sau3AI SNP exhibited associations with birth weight and average daily weight gain. This pioneering study is the first to explore these traits alongside selected LEP variants in Saanen goats.

Genetic variation in the SLC11A1 (C>G) and CARD15 (A/G) genes may contribute to the onset and development of bovine tuberculosis (bTB), supporting the hypothesis that polymorphisms in these genes are associated with the risk of bTB in Holstein cattle. bTB is a complicated disease that is probably influenced by polymorphisms in many genes, particularly those related to the immune system and host–pathogen interactions.
