A total of 1000 Ross-308 broilers were evenly divided into four groups. One group served as a control and was fed a basal diet, while three experimental groups were given diets with soybean replacement at 10%, 20% and 30%. The results indicated that there were no significant differences in growth performance, nutrient digestibility, hematology, serum metabolites and organoleptic characteristics. Consequently, it can be concluded that maggot meal can be included in the broiler diet up to 30%.

A total of 250 unsexed 1 d old broilers were allocated to five distinct treatment groups. Poppy seed meal was incorporated into the diets at varying levels: 0% (PSM0), 5% (PSM5), 10% (PSM10), 15% (PSM15), and 20% (PSM20). The findings indicated that growth performance, including weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio (FCR), was significantly improved (P < 0.05) in the PSM20 group compared to the control group.

The aim of the research was to compare the thickness and the medullation of white and coloured wool from alpacas of different ages. The colour of the wool did not significantly affect the thickness and degree of medullation of the alpaca wool. Discontinuous medullas are found even in very fine hair. With age, the mean fibre diameter increased; the share of non-medullated fibres in the fleece decreased; and the share of medullated fibres, especially those with an discontinuous medulla, increased.

The CAPN1 gene was selected as a target gene to identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and see if SNPs significantly affect meat quality in Bali cattle. Three SNPs in the CAPN1 gene were associated with ultrasound marbling and intramuscular fat, pH, tenderness, meat color, and fatty acid in Bali cattle. The CT genotype differed significantly from those of CC and TT genotypes in the gene expression result. CAPN1 gene polymorphisms could be used as markers for meat quality in Bali cattle.

We compared the quality of beef in three muscles obtained from the carcasses of bulls of a local breed of Polish Red cattle and of typical Limousin beef originating from France and Poland. All animals were maintained by an extensive production system using year-round pasture and, additionally, bale grazing in winter season feeding. The beef of the local breed, with distinct attributes like a higher essential fatty acid content, proves to be suitable for producing high-nutritional-value beef.

This paper explains the influence of a sheep's lactation stage on the physical and chemical properties, hygienic quality and fatty acids in milk produced by Lacaune sheep kept in intensive breeding. A significant increase in the content of fat, protein, total dry matter and casein and a significant decrease in the content of lactose in the late stage of lactation were observed. Analysis of fatty acids in milk proved a decrease in C18:2n6, C18:3n6, n6 and n6/n3 ratios during lactation.

The composition of muscle fibers is influenced by animal breed or age. In our study we found differences in fiber diameter between sheep breeds. Lambs of a more primitive breed were characterized by smaller diameters of all fiber types. The study has shown that the diameters of muscle fibers in the examined muscles increase with age. It was also stated that the muscle type, animal genotype and body weight at slaughter influence the chosen meat quality attributes.

We present a novel study of the effect of bta-miR-33a on lipid metabolism in bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMECs). The correlation between bta-miR-33a and target gene ELOVL6 is also verified by a luciferase reporter assay. We show that bta-miR-33a directly inhibits the expression of ELOVL6 in BMECs, altering the mRNA expression of relative genes. This suggest that bta-miR-33a regulates lipid metabolism by targeting ELOVL6, which might be a potential molecular marker of milk fat composition.

Our research tried new ideas and measured the milk production performance of cashmere goats and found that the nutritional indicators of milk of Liaoning cashmere goats were excellent, laying a theoretical foundation for the future development of breeding to cashmere goats. At the same time, it also provides theoretical support for producers and can screen individual genotypes based on the experimental results during seed selection, thereby improving production performance to a certain extent.

This study investigated the interactive effects of weather conditions, transportation time and loading density on carcass damages and meat quality traits of pigs. Pigs exposed to short transportation at low space allocation during hot weather conditions produced the lowest pork quality. Pigs exposed to short transportation at high loading density during cold weather conditions produced the highest pork quality. Hence, weather and transport conditions are of great importance for the pork quality.

Findings of the study suggest that these diets can be used in meat-type guinea fowl rearing without affecting the productive traits and meat quality. The present study provides new insights into the nutritional value of intramuscular fat of four Moroccan sheep meats reared in an outdoor production system.

Recently, consumers have been seeking natural and healthy products such as meat rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, beneficial for health with decreasing the saturated fatty acids. Then, to enhance the meat quality, some nutritional strategies were considered such as using the residues of aromatic and medicinal plants. Then, the use of rosemary residues in lamb feeding increased the polyunsaturated fatty acid, n-6 and n-3 contents and reduced the saturation index in muscles and adipose tissues.

The results support the inclusion of dietitian-recommended mutton into the human diet and the promotion of the production of meat from adult animals as a high-value product. This study evaluated an effect of zinc and methionine supplementation on Merino ewes wool features and zinc content in wool fibers. The quantity and quality of beef can be increased through crossing beef bulls with dairy cows. This experiment was conducted to compare carcass traits in young bulls and steers, produced by crossing Holstein-Friesian cows with Hereford bulls. Meat from steers had higher intramuscular fat content and was tenderer and juicier than meat from bulls. Steer IMF was characterized by a more desirable n-6 / n-3 PUFA ratio. Beef from steers is a good choice for consumers who appreciate high-quality meat.

Wet brewers grain (WBG) is successfully used in animal nutrition, especially in ruminants. The low cost of this fodder also has a positive impact on the economics of production. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of WBG to lamb feed on growth, slaughter value and meat quality. Lambs fed WBG were characterized by higher daily gains and better meat quality. The results indicate that WBG could be used in slaughter lamb production as a source of cheap fodder.

We examined the differences in the colour of meat during 6 days of storage between commercial (Swedish Landrace) and traditional (Swallow-bellied Mangalitsa) pig breeds. In conclusion, the meat from the free-range Swallow-bellied Mangalitsa pigs had better colour stability for 6 days of refrigerator vacuum storage compared to the meat from the modern pig breed, and our recommendation is to age this meat if it is intended to be marketed as high-quality pork.

Milk produced by two non-dairy breeds, i. e., Żelaźnieńska and Wrzosówka sheep, maintained under the same nutritional conditions, did not differ in terms of the amount of basic components. Higher amounts of PUFAs n-3, a more favorable ratio of n-6/n-3 and a lower level of cholesterol were observed in milk of the more primitive breed (i.e. Wrzosówka). We suggest that non-dairy breeds can provide high-quality milk that can positively affect the carcass quality of lambs slaughtered at low weight.

Short summary
A total of 400 day-old quails were assigned to four treatments: control, 0 %, 0 .01 %, and 0.02 % ginger phyto-protease. Over 42 d, significant improvements in feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, dressing percentage, villus height and width, and nutrient digestibility were observed, especially at 0.02 % enzyme inclusion. This suggests that 0.02 % ginger phyto-protease optimizes quail performance.
