This paper reports on the genetic diversity parameters of 12 Beninese indigenous guinea fowl phenotypes distributed in three climatic zones. More information has been provided through the results on genetic conservation and adaptability of the phenotypes to the local environment under climate change's continuous impact.

During pregnancy, iron requirements increase for optimal placental and fetal growth, the expansion of maternal red-cell mass, and to prevent complications related to maternal iron deficiency anemia. Red-cell parameters and iron status provide consistent additional information for the diagnosis of iron deficiency conditions. The aim of this work was to evaluate the serum iron status and its relation to hematological indexes in pregnant mares. Blood samples were taken from 31 Spanish Purebreds.

The current study aims to investigate the genetic diversity of native Algerian rabbit populations at 25 different geographic locations belonging to 7 regions using 85 microsatellite markers. According to the discovered results, high diversity was recorded in the south. In addition, the results noticed a high degree of geographical distribution (east, west, middle, and south). Generally, the current study records a high internal-breeding factor, although the samples were collected randomly.

There are few studies investigating the RNA-binding protein Lin28B and ovine puberty. This study focuses on understanding how its overexpression changes microRNA levels, cell proliferation, and estrogen secretion. To assess these changes, we used quantitative real-time (qRT) PCR, overexpression vectors, and ELISA. We found that Lin28B overexpression decreases let-7b and let-7g levels and increases granulosa cell proliferation and their estrogen secretion.

The effect of adding propolis to high-energy feed for laying hens on performance values and ratio of liver fat was investigated. High-energy feed adversely affected egg production and liver fat ratio, but the addition of 100 or 200 mg kg^-1 of propolis improved egg production and decreased liver fat ratio.

Phenotypic and genetic trends, genetic parameters, and breeding values of the fattening and slaughter traits of 1162 Hungarian Simmental bulls were evaluated for the progeny test database. Based on our results, it seems that the simultaneous selection, in which, in addition to milk production, meat production is included in the dual-production index at a proportion of one-third, causes neither a substantial improvement nor a deterioration in the meat production of the Hungarian Simmental breed.

This study is focused on the development of the inbreeding coefficients in Zwartbles sheep in the Czech Republic. The effect of inbreeding on meat yield was investigated. There was a statistically significant increase in inbreeding coefficient between 1997–2021. A statistically significant effect of the inbreeding coefficient on weight at 100 d, musculus longissimus dorsi (MLD) thickness, and back fat thickness was found. A negative relationship between inbreeding and meat yield was found.

The aims of this study were to estimate the genetic parameters of test day milk yield in the population of the White Maritza sheep breed and to choose the most appropriate linear models for genetic-parameter estimation of test day milk yield. Nine test day models were formulated and tested for the estimation of genetic parameters of milk yield. To compare the linear models described above, Akaike information criterion, Bayesian information criterion and log-likelihood were calculated.

The concentrations of the trace minerals iron, zinc, copper, and manganese in the empty-body and body tissue fractions of growing Fleckvieh (German Simmental) bulls slaughtered at 120–780 kg live weight were determined. Results were used to calculate trace mineral accretion rates in bulls from 100 to 800 kg live weight. Accretion rates changed during growth and were not affected by high-concentrate feeding. Provided data may be used to calculate net trace mineral requirements of growing bulls.

IPB-D2 chickens are one of the local Indonesian chickens that are being developed today. IPB-D2 chickens have disease-resistant traits. Selection is not only carried out conventionally but is also developed by molecular selection methods. By utilizing gene diversity in the major histocompatibility complex gene group, it was found that there were several single-nucleotide polymorphisms in the B Locus Beta 2 gene significantly associated with immunoglobulin Y concentrations in IPB-D2 chickens.
