With the rapid development of sequencing technology, it has been found that circRNAs play an important role in skeletal muscle development. During the growth and development of livestock, the growth and development of muscle fibers are closely related to the number, proliferation, and differentiation capacity of skeletal muscle satellite cells, thereby affecting meat quality. Notably, more and more studies now suggest that changes in circRNA expression may be associated with meat quality.

The aim of the research was to assess if age, sex, sire, country of foaling or training, and race distance influenced performance of the best thoroughbreds. The statistical analysis established a highly significant influence of all observed factors. The highest rankings and numerical superiority were achieved by stallions and by 3- and 4-year-old horses. The best horses were from Ireland and Great Britain, and they were trained in Ireland. The best paternal line was Mr. Prospector (USA).

Based on follicle number and testosterone concentration results, light flashes scheduled as biomittent light may be an economical alternative to continuous light for managing Rhode Island Red hens without harmfully influencing their physiological response, healthy traits, behavior and welfare. So, a light flash schedule of a 20 min : 40 min light period during 20–36 weeks of age is suggested for further experiments to confirm the economic and production benefits for the farming of breeding hens.

This study was carried out to estimate variance components using a univariate animal model accounting for maternal effect by the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) method. Some environmental factors affecting body measurements and ultrasound carcass traits in yearling Anatolian buffalo calves were highlighted for the successful selection program. Genetic and phenotypic correlations and selection responses were also revealed in this study.

The aim of this work was to determine the effect of the pre-mating weight (PMW) and placental characteristics on the birth weight (BW). Although prior studies have determined a relationship between BW and placental characteristics, no existing work has determined a relationship between the PMW and BW. This is also the first study in which placental surface area is used as a factor for determining the relationship between placental characteristics and BW.

The aim of the study was to compare carcass composition and physicochemical and sensory attributes of breast and leg meat from native Mexican guajolote (Meleagris g. gallopavo) as influenced by sex. The results showed that, from a nutritional point of view, the meat from male guajolotes was preferable to that from females.

Litter traits are key indicators of the reproductive productivity of sows. In the present study, four litter traits (total number born, number born alive, piglets born dead, and litter weight born alive) were explored. Several candidate genes were identified by a genome-wide association study and selective sweep analysis. These findings provide novel insights into the genetic basis of pig litter traits and will be helpful for improving molecular breeding in pigs.

The Kilis goat has emerged as a breed with a unique genetic profile that reflects its complex ancestry due to historical crossbreeding between the Damascus and Hair goat populations in Türkiye. The Kilis goat is well adapted to arid areas and is known for its high milk yield. Therefore, it holds great potential for milk production and genetic improvement programs in Türkiye. For this reason, some genes that affect milk yield were investigated.

This trial was performed to determine the effect of anise (Ans) and grape seed (Grp) oil inclusion in diets of Japanese quail on performance, carcasses, blood parameters, antioxidant activity, and hematological blood structure. It is concluded that Ans and Grp seed oils could be used as valuable essential oils in quails’ diets to stimulate the performance and immune response, enhance antioxidant activity, and reduce caecal pathogenic microbes.

Research was carried out on 40 Holstein–Friesian cows. The cows were divided into two equal groups: control (C) and experimental (E). The diet of group E cows was supplemented with mineral and vitamin premixes. Premixes in group E influenced the biochemical parameters of the blood of the cows and improved their health but did not affect the chemical composition of their milk. In group E,  the yield of milk, protein and fat was higher, and no cases of lameness or metabolic diseases were recorded.

Sheep breeding is one of the leading livestock sectors in agricultural countries, including Kazakhstan. A comprehensive study of the genetic aspects of these animals will solve many issues of the effectiveness of sheep breeding. This is important for such little-studied breeds as the Kazakh meat–wool sheep breed, which are multifetal. In this study, for the first time, we characterized this breed by looking at fecundity genes and found mutations that positively affect sheep fertility.

In this study, GLUD1 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were analyzed in early-puberty goats and delayed-puberty goat breeds by sequencing and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). The present study aimed to find genetic markers related to sexual precocity and high fertility in goats and to provide a scientific basis for marker-assisted early selection of reproductive performance.

The aim of the study was to examine an effect of the preparation based on nanosilver suspension on poultry litter microbiological profile. The study was conducted on broiler chickens. On the last day of the experiment litter samples for microbiological analyses were collected by the drinker, feeder, and pen corner. The study demonstrated that the preparation exhibits bactericidal properties. However, its effect varies depending on microorganism and sample collection point.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between oxidation and antioxidation parameters before superovulation (SOV) treatment and embryo recovery in donor cows. The redox status of donor cows before SOV treatment affects embryo recovery, as cows with high levels of both oxidative and antioxidative status have better embryo production. This information will be useful for the selection of donor cows and subsequent treatments.

The composition of muscle fibers is influenced by animal breed or age. In our study we found  differences in fiber diameter between  sheep breeds. Lambs of a more primitive breed were characterized by smaller diameters of all fiber types. The study has shown that the diameters of muscle fibers in the examined muscles increase with age. It was also stated that the muscle type, animal genotype and body weight at slaughter influence the chosen meat quality attributes.

This study aimed to show the effect of bile acid (BA) and xylanase (Xyl) supplementation on growth, fat digestibility, serum lipid metabolites, and ileal digesta viscosity of broilers fed wheat and tallow in their diets. The results of this trial revealed that the supplementation of Xyl significantly reduced the ileal digesta viscosity, and the supplementation of BA significantly increased the attention of serum lipid metabolites.
