Short summary
The Cukurova Meat Sheep (CMS) breed was developed to improve lamb meat production. This study compared CMS and Awassi lambs under identical feeding conditions. Although growth performance and overall meat quality were similar, CMS lambs yielded more muscle in high-value carcass cuts and had higher levels of protein, taurine, and arachidonic acid. These results highlight the potential of CMS for producing high-quality lamb.
