For safety about meat origin, the supplementation of feed with natural phytogenic additives appears to be very promising. The aim of the study was to evaluate effects of dietary inclusion of the wormwood herb (WH) on performance and meat quality of broilers. As a result, WH dietary supplementation influenced predominantly proteosynthesis of broilers, while their final live weight and carcass composition, as well as respective traits of meat quality, were not negatively affected.

This study was conducted with comprehensive sampling of a breed that is widely raised in the region near the Fertile Crescent, which serves as the cradle of domestication, utilizing 20 microsatellite markers based on a large sample set obtained from 10 different regions. Our findings emphasize the substantial genetic diversity within these populations, further validating the reliability and effectiveness of the markers employed for identifying and assessing the genetic diversity of this breed.

Poor-quality drinking water plays a detrimental role in the suppression of calf immunity, giving rise to an increased rate of calf mortality. The present study aims to evaluate the causes of calf mortality in beef and dairy farms in relation to drinking water quality (DWQ). We could conclude that DWQ highly affects causes of calf mortality, but we cannot exclude some farm hygienic risk factors.

This paper explains the influence of a sheep's lactation stage on the physical and chemical properties, hygienic quality and fatty acids in milk produced by Lacaune sheep kept in intensive breeding. A significant increase in the content of fat, protein, total dry matter and casein and a significant decrease in the content of lactose in the late stage of lactation were observed. Analysis of fatty acids in milk proved a decrease in C18:2n6, C18:3n6, n6 and n6/n3 ratios during lactation.

Finding polymorphisms of genes can provide potential molecular genetic markers for sheep reproduction. This study investigated the polymorphisms of three major reproductive genes (BMPR1B, BMP15 and GDF9) in Chinese sheep and found that BMPR1B and GDF9 might be the major genes influencing the reproductive performance of Chinese sheep breeds. This result might contribute to improving the prolificacy traits of native Chinese sheep in the future.

Genetic selection based on bovine casein variants, especially for A2 milk, is a scorching topic in animal breeding and genetics. Our study assessed the genotypic/allelic frequencies, population genetics, diversity parameters, and relationship between genotypes and breeding values with respect to two casein genes, CSN2 and CSN3 in Holstein Friesian cows. The present results are critical for evaluating the genetic merit of cows in commercial dairy cattle breeding.

A total of 250 unsexed 1 d old broilers were allocated to five distinct treatment groups. Poppy seed meal was incorporated into the diets at varying levels: 0% (PSM₀), 5% (PSM₅), 10% (PSM₁₀), 15% (PSM₁₅), and 20% (PSM₂₀). The findings indicated that growth performance, including weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio (FCR), was significantly improved (P < 0.05) in the PSM₂₀ group compared to the control group.

In this study, we investigated the effect of the sheep FecB gene on reproductive and productive performance by molecular biology techniques. Our results showed that the most dominant genotypes associated with lambing performance were AA and CT, with the dominant haplotype combination being AACT. In terms of body performance, the dominant genotypes were AA and CC, with the dominant haplotype combination being AACC.

The cashmere produced by Liaoning cashmere goats has high value. However, cashmere production cannot achieve satisfactory results due to long-standing technical bottlenecks. This article takes Liaoning cashmere goats as the research object to explore the function of melatonin. An in-depth analysis of the key molecules and mechanisms mediated by melatonin will help us better understand its regulatory role in animal production and provide theoretical support for improving production efficiency.

Our study suggests that dietary supplementation in Barki ewes prior to mating is effective in maintaining reproductive performance. This improvement is evident through increased levels of hormonal profiles, numbers and sizes of ovarian follicles, improved  conception, and lambing rates. In fact, the effects of protected fats are most pronounced when combined with hormonal treatments.

The current study was designed to evaluate the probable protective effect of luteolin against lipid peroxidation of ram spermatozoa membranes and kinematics during cold preservation. Results indicated that luteolin was able to improve the kinematics of spermatozoa during liquid storage. Enzymatic and total antioxidants were improved by luteolin enrichment. Luteolin did not affect the nitrosative index of stored ram spermatozoa after 72 h.
