This study explores the maternal genetic origins of four goat breeds from Türkiye – Damascus, Kilis, Hatay, and Kil – within the Fertile Crescent, a key region for goat domestication. By analysing mitochondrial DNA, Haplogroup A was dominant, but Haplogroups A and G were newly documented in Hatay goats, and there was novel identification of Haplogroup G in Damascus goats in Türkiye. These findings highlight the importance of conserving these breeds as vital genetic resources in a historically significant region.

Our study sought to investigate the impact of increasing doses of wood vinegar (WV) supplementation on nutrient utilization, metabolism, and nitrogen balance in sheep. These sheep were fed increasing doses of WV (0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 mL d^-1) while receiving high-concentrate diets. Our findings suggest that WV interferes with rumen function and improves protein metabolism in sheep.

This study evaluated the effects of pomegranate peel supplementation (0, 50, 100, and 150 mg kg^-1) in high-energy diets for laying hens. The results indicated that 150 mg kg^-1 supplementation improved egg production, feed conversion ratio, shell strength, and yolk color while reducing triglyceride and very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol levels. Additionally, the liver fat ratio was decreased with 100 and 150 mg kg^-1 supplementation. Further research is needed for more detailed findings.

This research assesses the effects of two different dietary regimes on the body weight, fatty acid composition, vitamin E levels, and color attributes of lamb meat. It is critical to highlight the unique advantages of the El Bayadh ecosystem for outdoor sheep breeding, which produces healthier meat that is rich in vitamin E and possesses an appealing color that could potentially enhance its marketability.

Small-scale farmers use scales, which are difficult to access or maintain, to measure body weight. In this study, we developed models to predict body weight in Kuroiler male chickens using data-mining algorithms, namely multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) and classification and regression trees (CART). The CART model was more accurate than the MARS model, with both models identifying wing span and chest circumference as crucial factors in predicting body weight.

In this study, polymorphisms in 15 exon regions of the discoidin domain receptor tyrosine kinase 1 (DDR1) gene were investigated in order to determine its effects on milk yield in cattle. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) high-resolution melting (HRM) analysis, sequence analysis and statistical analyses of the samples were performed. It was found that two of the polymorphic regions had an effect on milk yield.
