It was suggested that the start codon targeted (SCoT) markers may be more effective than inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) for differentiating and identifying the genetic variations within investigated breeds. Also, the usage of molecular markers of SCoT and ISSR may be more proper for calculating genetic diversity and common ancestry among tested rabbit breeds.

The productive longevity of sows in breeding herd systems has become a key evaluation metric due to its importance with respect to both profitability and animal welfare. In the current economic climate, associated with rising costs of feed, a sow's productive life plays one of the most important roles in determining the profitability of the system. Therefore, it is essential to understand the factors that influence sow removal from a herd.

The CAPN1 gene was selected as a target gene to identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and see if SNPs significantly affect meat quality in Bali cattle. Three SNPs in the CAPN1 gene were associated with ultrasound marbling and intramuscular fat, pH, tenderness, meat color, and fatty acid in Bali cattle. The CT genotype differed significantly from those of CC and TT genotypes in the gene expression result. CAPN1 gene polymorphisms could be used as markers for meat quality in Bali cattle.

The aim of this study is to assess the genetic diversity and structure of the Haflinger horse population in the Czech Republic based on 16 microsatellite loci. The results indicated a high level of diversity and the presence of greater admixture, and the identification of distinct genetic clusters suggested a significant gene flow. These findings imply that the population exhibits sufficient genetic variability and diversity.

The objective of this study was to evaluate heterosis, general combining ability (GCA), maternal ability (MA), and sex-linked effects (SL) for growth performance from weaning (4 weeks) up to marketing age (12 weeks) , using a complete 3 x 3  diallel crossing experiment in three different breeds of rabbits: one native Egyptian breed (Baladi Red, RR) and two exotic (Bauscat, BB, and Californian, CC). 

In this study, InDels loci of YAP and TAZ genes in two goat breeds were screened and identified, and the association between InDels loci of YAP and TAZ genes and growth traits was analyzed. The results showed that eight InDels loci were identified from goat YAP and TAZ genes. These InDels loci significantly affected growth traits such as chest width, body height, and body weight of goats. These findings can provide new molecular markers for goat molecular breeding.

In this study, genetic bottleneck and migration events among Hair, Honamlı, Kabakulak, and Norduz populations were assessed using 28 highly polymorphic microsatellite loci. No evidence of a genetic bottleneck was detected in Anatolian goats using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. No migration to Norduz was observed, indicating that this breed has become genetically distinct due to geographic isolation. These results may serve to carry out better management practices.

We used endometrial stromal cells of Qianbei Ma goats as our study subjects and found that N-acetylcysteine could promote the proliferation of endometrial stromal cells and increase the viability, antioxidant activity, mitochondrial membrane potential and expression of endometrial receptivity marker genes of endometrial stromal cells, which suggests that N-acetylcysteine may be beneficial in improving endometrial receptivity of goats.

The Original Valachian sheep is a Slovak national breed and is well adapted to living in high-altitude pastures. The breed is currently endangered, and there is a lot of interest from breeders in understanding its characteristics, particularly with regards to horn and wool traits. We found specific genes associated with these traits, which can be very important for breeders who are working to preserve this endangered breed.

We focus on the Lanping black-boned sheep (LPBB) because it is the only mammal that resembles the Chinese silky fowl in the world. LPBB is characterized by black pigmentation in its plasma colorimetry and had its internal organs compared to the reddish color in Lanping normal sheep. Although the literature is abundant in genetic case studies, the processes of pigmentation remain obscure. We thus investigate the association between the PDGFRL gene polymorphism of LPBB and melanin deposition.

Peroxiredoxin-6 (PRDX6) is expressed in the epididymal tissue, epididymal fluid, and epididymal sperm of sheep. As the sperm mature and transit through the epididymis, the intracellular distribution of PRDX6 gradually becomes more extensive. This suggests that PRDX6 has an important role in promoting sperm maturation.

The aim of the research was to compare the thickness and the medullation of white and coloured wool from alpacas of different ages. The colour of the wool did not significantly affect the thickness and degree of medullation of the alpaca wool. Discontinuous medullas are found even in very fine hair. With age, the mean fibre diameter increased; the share of non-medullated fibres in the fleece decreased; and the share of medullated fibres, especially those with an discontinuous medulla, increased.

This study was conceptualized as a prototype for other studies. Insights are provided into the effects of breed and sex on the slaughter characteristics, carcass traits, meat quality and fatty acid composition of young animals, which were formed based on the enteric emission (CH₄) levels and animal protein production potentials of different geographical regions. 

This paper highlighted the higher antioxidant potential of milk obtained from cows maintained in the traditional production system in the spring/summer season, primarily as a result of the increasing content of antioxidant, fat-soluble vitamins. 

The aim of the study was to use a digital system for the documentation of treatments and to investigate treatments, performance parameters and breeds. Farrowing-related treatments and high treatment indices of the sow related with an increase in stillborn piglets and high treatment indices of the sow resulted in fewer piglets born alive. Sows with parity of 1 had the highest treatment indices, which decreased over parities and increased for parity ≥8.

The goal of the current study was to determine how dietary black pepper oil (BPO) supplementation affected growth performance, characteristics of growing quails' immunity, antioxidant status, and carcass yield. In conclusion, dietary BPO supplementation in Japanese quails' diet can boost growth performance and antioxidant indices, enhance lipid profile and carcass traits, and reduce intestinal infections.
