The present study addressed the interactive effects of concentrate levels (low (40 %) and high (60 %)) and plant (pomegranate, garlic, or sunflower) oils on in vitro rumen fermentation kinetics. Results indicated that the interaction of diet and oils had no significant effect on in vitro gas production parameters. Data suggested no effect for unconventional oil on in vitro rumen fermentation in either high or low concentrate diets.

The present study aims to examine the effect of goats on abnormal behaviors of horses. Therefore, horses and goats were monitored for 45 d. As a result, the abnormal behaviors of horses such as front feet playing, crib-biting object, and box walking behaviors were affected positively by the goats, while there was no effect on other abnormal behaviors.

This study was aimed at determining the effects of different doses of thyme essential oil (TEO) and rosemary essential oil (REO) incorporated into broiler rations on performance parameters, including body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion rate, as well as on the quality criteria of breast and drumstick meat. As a result, dietary supplementation with TEO and REO was determined to have a limited effect on performance parameters but to improve the microbial quality of meat.

This study confirmed that mtDNA could make a significant contribution to cattle farming in both theory and practice. In theory, even if they were domesticated in different geographical areas, the patterns of crossbreeding between taurine and indicine were detected in Anatolian cattle at a low frequency. In practice, pedigree records could be revised in terms of admixture level and species-specific haplotypes of taurine and indicine by the farmers via molecular studies such as mtDNA.

Globally, water buffalo livestock farming accounts for approximately 200 million animals; the use of precision livestock farming (PLF) technologies, which are becoming widespread in dairy cattle livestock farming, is explored for water buffalo livestock farming by adapting the system for the use of water buffalo enterprises. In this study, the possibilities of using PLF technologies in water buffaloes are presented by surveying the breeders and by SWOT analysis according to the survey results.

The fatty acid (FA) composition of cattle is correlated with cardiovascular diseases in humans. These FAs come from ruminal biohydrogenation; however, this process also produces FAs that can provide benefits to human health. Sex and diet can affect the FA profile of the meat. The meat FAs of cattle in feedlot systems are different due to diet differences. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of sex on the FA profile and meat quality of feedlot cattle fed a whole shelled corn diet.

This study aimed to understand the effects of adding low-dose oxytocin hormone into ram semen on the pregnancy rate and reproductive efficiency of sheep. A total of 53 out of 122 Chios ewes were inseminated with oxytocin hormone content, and successful pregnancy was achieved 90.56 % of them. In examination of the pregnancy rate, one of the indicators of reproductive performance, the difference between the groups is statistically significant (p = 0.046; p ≤ 0.05).

The demand for mutton is increasing yearly. Sheep were raised to 180 d of age, and production performance was measured and recorded at 20-d intervals from 80 to 180 d. The sheep were then slaughtered at 180 d of age. Blood, tissues, and other samples were collected for follow-up experimental research. Finally, we detected a mutation site in a specific segment of the ovine MAP3K5 gene, and this site can be used as a molecular genetic marker to improve sheep body size traits.

Genes enriched in sensory perception were positively selected via selection signature analysis between wild Asiatic mouflon and domesticated Hu sheep. Among them, RDH5 is one of the key enzymes in the synthesis of retinoic acid (RA), which is related to human retinopathy. The c.722T>C/p.M241T mutation of RDH5 affects retinol dehydrogenase activity in the domestication process of sheep.

In this study, we found that miR-369-3p inhibits the proliferation and differentiation of Aohan fine-wool sheep (AFWS) preadipocytes. This study provides a theoretical basis for further exploration of the molecular mechanism of fat deposition in sheep and other livestock.

The application of antibiotics is being regulated continuously. Therefore, natural agents are being investigated that aim to strengthen the defense system of poultry. In our study, capsanthin was applied to investigate its effect on immune response under lipopolysaccharide immunization. Based on our results, capsanthin decreased the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines at both mRNA and protein levels, which suggest the positive effects of capsanthin during inflammation in broiler chickens.

The aim of this paper was to evaluate semen parameters from Czech Fleckvieh bulls used in artificial insemination (AI) in the Fleckvieh population. We analyzed 1029 samples from 46 Fleckvieh bulls from one AI station. Semen from the bulls was collected once a week, which is not usual in other AI stations. We also assessed sperm quality parameters of ejaculate before freezing and after thawing. The ejaculate parameters were evaluated in relation to the collection season and the age of the bulls.

The addition of 1 mL kg⁻¹ pomegranate seed oil (PSO) to feeds improved performance. The addition of PSO had a positive effect on shelf life, and it increased punicic acid and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) levels without reducing egg quality.

The results of this study found that a mutation site of the MLPH gene was associated with the white-feather phenotype of quail, which provided a theoretical basis for the study of quail feather color change and quail reproduction.

The team that prepared this article developed and patented electrical teat dipping (ETD) to prevent cow mastitis. ETD was developed by combining teat dipping application and an electrical field stimulation technique on teats. In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of ETD on clinical mastitis incidence and bulk tank milk somatic cell counts on dairy farms. Based on our findings, we conclude that the effects of ETD on mastitis rates reduction are very positive.

Ewes' reproductive performance could be predicted using the data available early in their life. Ewe birth rank, dam birth rank, first litter size, and first lambing interval are significantly associated with ewe reproductive performance up to the fourth year of life. Precise prediction of ewe reproductive performance using the early predictors is impossible due to the low R² predicted. The value of the lower threshold of the 95 % prediction interval might be useful in making selection decisions.
