S1_extracted_dataset.xlsx
    Outcome data extracted from the twelve included studies. Four sheets:
      1_Calisma_Listesi   List of the twelve studies with full citations, DOIs and
                          the outcome each contributes.
      2_Veri_Cikarma      Extraction form: for each of the eighteen comparisons,
                          the group means, dispersion measure (with its type
                          explicitly recorded as SD, SEM or pooled SEM), sample
                          sizes, dose, route, formulation, reported P value, and
                          the exact table or figure in the source publication from
                          which the value was taken. Cell comments record the
                          judgements made during extraction.
      3_Hesaplama         Effect size calculations, driven by formulas from sheet 2.
      4_Kullanim          Legend and conventions.

S2_meta_analysis_figures1-6.py
    Python script reproducing the random-effects meta-analysis (DerSimonian-Laird),
    the subgroup analyses, the leave-one-out sensitivity analysis and Egger's test,
    and generating Figures 1 to 6. Input values are declared at the top of the
    script with their source study.

S3_dose_response_figure7.py
    Python script for the dose-response analysis and Figure 7, using the graded
    dose series of Solis de los Santos et al. (2008) and Metcalf et al. (2011).

REQUIREMENTS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Python 3.10 or later with numpy, scipy and matplotlib.

Both scripts write TIFF files to a newfigs/ subdirectory, which must exist.

Three comparisons identified during screening could not enter the quantitative
synthesis and are marked accordingly in sheet 2: Hovorkova and Skrivanova (2015),
which reports no numerical cecal counts; the growth outcome of Solis de los Santos
et al. (2009), for which the authors state that data are not shown; and the
colonization outcome of van Gerwe et al. (2010), reported as a CD50 threshold that
is not commensurate with the log10 CFU/g scale.
